The estate sits on 500 hectares of historic forests, meadows, and rivers, radiating nothing but peace and quiet. Featuring a variety of terrains and a rich array of wildlife, Duttenstein’s Wildlife Park’s reputation extends well beyond regional borders. The main types of trees found here are oak, hornbeam, copper beech, ash, spruce, and pine. The mere approach to the estate along the old chestnut alley is like stepping back in time. A true jewel of Nature.

Wildlife park

The balance between nature and forestry makes the forest an individual experience. Forestry operation Blauwald GmbH & Co. KG manages the forest with its unique 300-year-old oak stock and distinctive solitary trees according to economic, ecological, and social aspects. Protecting and improving the forest ecosystem is a central task of forestry operations. Old and dead wood islands offer a natural habitat for cave-dwelling birds, rare insect species, and fungi, as well as numerous forest biotopes and natural monuments.

Fascinating wildlife

The park’s structurally rich forest landscape with much dead wood is a unique habitat for many strictly protected species such as the Hermit and the Yellow-bellied Toad. It is a breeding ground for many protected bird species such as the honey-buzzard, the eurasian hobby, and the red kite, as well as many species of woodpeckers and flycatchers. The numerous fallow deer, mouflon, and wild boar have been raised and cared for in our forests for centuries, but also hunted to ensure a balanced population. Our goal is to preserve and rejuvenate these forests with their beauty and biodiversity.

Wildpark Duttenstein GmbH, a subsidiary of Blauwald GmbH & Co KG, encompasses the tasks of the wildlife park and the Duttenstein Castle.

Our Memory Café offers relatives and guests who accompany a burial in our forest of remembrance a warm and protected setting that provides space for grief, comfort, and valuable conversations. In this special phase of farewell, we offer a compassionate place where you can find peace after the ceremony and share memories. At our house, we offer a place to exchange ideas and share memories over coffee, cake, or a light soup.
